To provide charging facilities for motorised golf trolleys in a secure but accessible location on a beautiful golf course.

How did we help?

We provided consultancy help to Barton-on-Sea Golf Club, coming up with a container design to fit their requirements and their available space. We converted the containers in our workshops and delivered all five to order in a tight location.

The whole story

Barton-on-Sea Golf Club is a friendly and welcoming private members' club on the cliffs of England's south coast, with stunning views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and the Needles.

Many members prefer to use electric trolleys to carry their clubs around the 9-hole loops of the 27-hole course, but these can be cumbersome to take home and charge. So the Club got in touch with Andy Wilkins, Sales Manager at Willbox, to find a solution.

Electrical supply to containers

It was key to provide charging points for the trolleys, so Andy suggested that each converted container be provided with an inlet for a 32 amp supply, linked to internal double charging points for individual trolleys.

The electrical supply also provides lighting, as well as heating through a controlled thermostat to maintain a minimum temperature in cold weather.

Secure containers

The containers are robust and secure, each 20ft by 8ft container fitted with personal access doors secured by locks accessible by golf club members, to keep trolleys safe.

Restricted access

The Club was keen that the storage should be as discreet as possible, whilst providing charging points for up to 60 trolleys. It was agreed that the best solution would be to provide five individual green containers to blend with their surroundings, each of which could be lifted carefully over the existing golf buggy store into a tight location.
