Bespoke containers supplied by Willbox are providing crucial extra patient facilities and storage to help medical teams tackle COVID-19.
Heavy demand for hospital space during the pandemic means that medical facilities must find creative solutions for the storage of additional medical supplies. University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust contacted Willbox for help. They needed to store a significant quantity of breathing apparatus in a way that allowed medics to access the supplies with minimal risk of contagion.Willbox was able quickly to recommend suitable containers to meet this demand. Double-ended Tunnel containers allow a separate entrance and exit at each end, so that staff can operate a one-way system to avoid meeting. Storage systems within these tunnel-tainers were designed to provide quick and easy access to the supplies.
“We are able to work quickly for our customers when they need us, in spite of lockdown,” says Robin Lusted, Hire Manager at Willbox. “We received the first call from the Trust over Easter weekend, and had the first units on site by the end of April, with the project complete by the end of May.”“Huge thanks to Willbox for turning this project around for us so quickly,” says Matthew Hine, Commercial Development Manager of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. “The service offered by Willbox was first class, quick convenient and professional. These 10 bespoke containers were delivered within days, so our staff could reach extremely important kit quickly and safely, which is crucial at this difficult time.”
As hospitals and GP practices roll out the Government's vaccination programme, many are struggling to find sufficient indoor space to protect those attending their appointments. Fortunately Willbox carries one of the largest stocks of shipping containers in the UK, and these can easily be adapted and located to provide shelter.Southampton University Health Centre contacted Willbox in December to solve their requirement for covered areas for their vaccine delivery programme. In less than a fortnight Willbox was able to deliver to site two containers adapted for use as comfortable waiting and recovery rooms.
Willbox has a wide variety of containers available to hire or buy and is experienced at tailoring each container to its customer's needs. The containers can be supplied on flexible terms, so the containers on both these medical projects can be kept on site indefinitely. This willingness to adapt to changing customer requirements is a key approach for Willbox, says Lusted. “In this medical crisis we are proud to be able to help our neighbours in Southampton by supplying additional storage and facilities as and when required, to support our shared fight against the pandemic.”As a national company with over 20 depots, Willbox has a large quantity of site accommodation units, including anti-vandal canteens and offices that can quickly be adapted and mobilised to support the nationwide vaccine programme.
